FOXHUNTING IN THE SCOTTISH BORDERS

Following the Border hounds in Scotland
College Valley & North Northumberland Hunt in their Scottish country
We can no longer hunt legally in England but we can in Scotland and the English hunts will continue with other activities!  We will continue to take groups to the Borders.  The hunting is mostly hill country and jumping is possible but not necessary. It can be steep, the days long and occasionally blustery but you need not stay out the whole day.  Foxes and hounds can be viewed easily and long runs are not unusual.  Excellent horses are available.  We are looking forward to next season's trip.  Let us know if you have a date preference.

We can hunt with the Berwichshire, Border, Duke of Buccleuch's, College Valley &  North Northumberland, Jed Forest and Lauderdale.   Non-hunting days can be easily filled with visits to Edinburgh, Newcastle, Hadrian's Wall or the many castles, abbeys and quaint villages in the area.  We can visit homes of the Scots: namely Mary, Queen of and Sir Walter.  Shopping for woolen goods, whiskey (scotch), antiques and riding clothes can also occupy any non hunting time.  We may also be able to attend a local Hunt Ball, Point to Point or Race Meet. Golf and fishing may also be available.

We can add or include a two or three day highland tour at either end of our visit: Isle of Skye via Loch Lomond and Glencoe and/or Inverness via Loch Ness.  Additional charges may apply.

Hadrian's Wall
Alnwick Castle (Hogwart's School)
"The scenery is stunning: heather-clad hills and emerald valleys shot with silver streams and salmon-thronged rivers.  Around one curve, there's the surprise of a baronial castle in full fantasy;around another a Spartan stone tower is a reminder of the battle-filled past.  Driving across the moor, we humans and the black-face sheep we encounter are dwarfed by a gigantic sky - anthracite gray streaked by white clouds and sudden rays of sun.  It's as if we're driving across the top of the world."  From July 1996 Town and Country Magazine

Charming accomodation is B&B at a small sporting Hotel or in private country homes.  There is excellent dining here and at other local pubs and hotels.  I have also found several nice cottages that we could rent and be more relaxed and prepare some of our own meals.

Seven and ten day trips are planned with three to six days of hunting possible.  Non riders are welcome (at a lower cost).

Seven days with three to five days of hunting starts at $1550.00 (cottage) or $1850.00 (B&B) and includes accomodations (sharing), breakfasts, car, gas and horse rental.

Ten days with four to six days of hunting starts at$2200.00 (cottage) or $2600.00 (B&B) and includes accomodations(sharing), breakfasts, car, gas & horse rental.

All additional charges: meals, caps, etc.  will be charged to you at end of stay.  Prices may vary with exchange rate.  Master Card and VISA accepted.

Flight arrangements can be made by us. Icelandic Air sometimes has the best rates to Glasgow and British Air has reasonbly priced flights to Glasgow and Edinburgh via London.  Arrivals to Newcastle and Manchester are also possible.
